A new education project Youth about Europe for young Ukrainian documentary filmmakers is starting now. Famous masters of Polish documentary film industry will hold a series of workshops and lectures in Ukraine, where they will explain how and where filmmakers should look for support.
Young directors and producers will work under creative guidance of the mentors on various stages of their projects: from the birth of an idea and to video documentation, creating a trailer, and preparing a professional screenplay. The creative mentors include experienced Polish documentary filmmakers Jacek Bławut, Mirosław Dembiński, Jacek Piotr Bławut, and Paweł Łoziński.
At the end of the project, the young documentary filmmakers will participate in a workshop in Warsaw where they will personally present their work to TV editors and other potential sponsors and industry representatives.
The educational program will take place from September to November 2017. It will include two events in Ukraine and one in Poland, as well as independent work of all participants throughout the whole period.
The final stage covered in the program will be development (documentary project development), but even after it ends, we will not abandon our students. We will do everything to help realize as many projects as possible, to help create films which will present the image of contemporary Europe.
Participation in the project is free of charge. The organizers will also cover travel and accommodation expenses for participants as they visit Warsaw.

The project will be realized by the Doc'n'World Foundation, which has organized film and education programs in Ukraine before, such as Kyiv from Dawn to Dusk (2011, see details at www.docworld.pl) and The Young about the Young (2014, see details at www.mom.org.pl), which resulted in creation of films that won many international film festival awards, such as Alice in Warland (see details at www.alisa.org.pl), When This Wind Dies Down (see details at www.windstop.pl), Piano. The Youth about Ukraine project (see details at www.youngukraine.eu) continues this tradition.
The project’s organizational partner in Ukraine is the International Documentary Workshop (IDW www.idw.in.ua), maintained by the NGO Center for Contemporary Information Technology and Visual Arts, which also co-founded and co-organizes the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival Docudays UA (www.docudays.org.ua). Previous projects of IDF include workshops on documentary filmmaking in 2004-2010, the Ukrainian-Polish almanac-laboratory Outside Euro in 2011-2012, the Storytelling Doc Lab in 2013, Ukrainian publication of the book by Jacek Blawut The Hero in Documentary Films, 2016, the Youth about Ukraine workshop in 2016.
