Narodnyi Malakhiy (People's Malakhiy), written by the prominent Ukrainian playwright Mykola Kulish, is listed in the Top 100 Greatest Dramatic Works of the 20th Century. Kulish wrote his play in 1927. The same year, Les Kurbas, a prominent Ukrainian theatre director, breathed a staged life into the play in his experimental Berezil Theatre.
