Primary Responsibilities:
— As a member of the NGO Docudays team, to curate film programms for the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Travelling Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Docudays UA Human Rights Media Education Film Clubs, and other NGO Docudays events and programms. Specific tasks include: exploring and watching films of interest for the programs; engaging in film discussions; requesting viewing copies of films; generating ideas for film programs and events; and crafting curatorial texts and comments for the selected films.
— Oversee the preselection process. Manage the reception and selection of films using the FilmFreeway platform; monitor updates on the festival’s page on the platform; coordinate the activities of the preselection team and the Selection Council; ensure adherence to deadlines.
— Negotiate with film rights holders to secure licence rights for screenings; facilitate the signing of licence agreements; ensure the timely receipt of necessary film and promotional materials; and monitor adherence to agreed screening terms.
— Communicate with designated guests, participants, and moderators of Docudays UA festival events and other NGO Docudays projects. Establish terms for their participation, relay essential information to relevant personnel for further coordination, and oversee compliance with agreed terms.
— Coordinate partner film screenings and film events. Sustain effective communication with assigned partners.
— Represent NGO Docudays at industry sections and markets of international film festivals. Participate as a representative to expand professional networks and enhance the programs of the Docudays UA festival.
— Engage in promotional activities related to the initiatives of NGO Docudays when required.
— Provide a monthly activity report in the format specified by NGO Docudays.
Candidate Requirements:
— Higher education in the field of culture.
— Awareness of ethical and aesthetic aspects of creative documentary cinema and a broader understanding of art, including knowledge of film history.
— Prior experience in film festival management or similar roles within the cultural sector.
— Proficiency in Ukrainian and English, both spoken and written.
— Familiarity with business communication ethics.
— Strong organizational skills, punctuality, and a proactive attitude with a sense of responsibility.
— Effectiveness in achieving results.
— Ability to collaborate within a team.
