The third day of the DOCU/PRO industry platform will be devoted to the topic of documentary editing.
At the morning online meeting with the Danish film editor Michael Aaglund (The Distant Barking of Dogs, A House Made of Splinters), we will talk about storytelling, the search for a unique 'voice' and 'form', and the multi-character structure. Using examples from his own work, Michael will explain how limitations can help make a film better and how not to miss the gifts of "natural" drama. The event will be moderated by the director and producer Alina Gorlova.
In the afternoon, the famous French film editor Charlotte Tourres will talk about the creative process of making Intercepted (directed by Oksana Karpovych). This film has been recognized at festivals all over the world (since its premiere at the IFF Berlinale in February this year, it has been screened at more than 20 festivals) and will open this year's Docudays UA. In this case study, Charlotte will share the challenges she faced, in particular, when she had to edit audio and video narratives independently of each other, and will talk about the peculiarities of her editing style. The event will be moderated by Taras Spivak, a film editor and director.
