With his mother having left home and his father passed away, 19-year-old Tudou is left living with his older brother and uncle in a three-section compound. Estranged from his family, he has been self-supporting since a young age, engaging in high-risk labour jobs like moving joss paper or spring pesticides. In order to make a living, he exploits grey areas or loophole in the law.
Doomed by the constant separations and the transience of life, a group of restless young people from the rural area of Yunlin, Taiwan are desperate for the chance to turn their lives around. They started working and forming families much earlier than others would, but as an outsider, we wonder whether the next generation will replicate their lives.
