Meet the Student Jury!

12 March 2021

We introduce you to the members of the student jury! This year, they will be the ones to choose their favorite in the festival’s competition programmes.

Danylo Chuprin studies at the Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Film and Television in Kyiv. He is interested in documentary cinema and believes that it is the only thing that is uniquely capable of registering things that are hidden from the naked eye. “Working in this field, I have the opportunity to study the process of film creation from the inside,” notes Danylo. “Docudays UA has become an integral part of my life, and I am ready to make my own contribution to it.”

Kateryna Tsopa studies management at the Kyiv National Trade and Economics University. She is interested in environmentalism and cinema. “Everyone has an impact on this world every day with their decisions and actions. And documentary film helps register these moments and impacts,” believes Kateryna.

Yuliia Shcherbak combines her studies at the TVR faculty at Ithaca College and at law schools at Cornell University and Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. In addition, she is a member of the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival.

Anhelika Machula is finishing her bachelor studies in journalism at the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. She has experience in creating media projects about film, in which she combines two perspectives: of an audience member and of a critic. As a member of the jury, Anhelika wants to combine these two perspectives and draw attention not just to the magic of the moment, but also at the methods that create it. “Film is my passion, inspiration for work, and hobby,” says Anhelika.

Oksana Novoseltseva studies at the Mykhailo Drahomanov National Pedagogical University to become a geography and English teacher. Oksana’s uncle is a film critic, and he was the one who influenced her enthusiasm about documentary cinema. “As a future pedagogue, I look for justice, personal safety, and I want to teach it to children,” says Oksana. “For me, a Crimean native, these issues are the most urgent, so my approach to documentary film is special.”

As a reminder, films from all the competition programmes will be available to watch at Zhovten Cinema and the docuspace.org online cinema.
