Each of us has the right to independently control and make decisions about our sexuality. Everyone has the right to freedom from violence, coercion, or intimidation in sexual life. And everyone has the right to know about the health of their partner, as well as the freedom to choose their partner. This is enshrined in the international human rights standards and guaranteed by the state. However, the taboo nature of this topic and the social ideas about it as exclusively a sexual act produce many stereotypes and myths which affect our sexual life and health and violate our sexual rights.
What popular stereotypes about sexual health exist, and are you affected by these imposed standards? How do sexual and reproductive rights affect the quality of life? And why does the lack of knowledge about them affect society’s sexual health? Do we take proper care of our sexual health?
