Current Time TV Channel Will Give Out Two Awards at Docudays UA

02 February 2020

For the third time, the television platform Current Time will be a partner of our festival. It will give out two awards at this year’s Docudays UA.

These include a $3,000 prize in the RIGHTS NOW! nomination, which will include a selection of ten films from the whole programme of Docudays UA. These are films which critically rethink contemporary social problems and offer a new perspective on them.

In addition, Kenan Aliyev, the executive editor for feature programming at Current Time, will personally choose a winner among the projects presented at Ukrainian Doc Preview. The winner will receive a $2,000 prize.

Kenan Aliyev admits, “Current Time is proud to be a media partner of Docudays UA, now for the third year. We are one of the largest providers of independent documentary films in Europe. Docudays UA focuses on human rights and freedom of expression is one we share, and it drives our mission. Current Time appreciates the vast talent and new voices that the festival brings together, and the opportunity it provides Current Time to be at the centre of the newest thinking in the Ukrainian film industry. It helps us connect with our Ukrainian audiences, who look to Current time for high-quality feature programming that is not otherwise available to them. The festival's Ukrainian Doc Preview gives us unique access to Ukrainian filmmakers and producers, whose projects we are honoured to be able to support. This year, Current Time's parent company, RFE/RL, is marking 70 years on the air. Docudays UA helps us to stay focused, fresh, and relevant, and encourages us to renew our commitment to supporting creativity, human rights, and freedom."

We would like to remind you that applications for Ukrainian Doc Preview are open until February 3. This is a unique opportunity to present full-length documentary projects in production and post-production to international festival selectors, international funds representatives, sales companies and broadcasters within Docudays UA-2020.
