By the end of 2020, the pilot Community Police Officer project will be operating all over Ukraine. The project’s assumption is that a community police officer will be in close contact with the residents of their community during almost all their working hours. In particular, the community officer will combine the functions of a district police officer, a patrol police officer and a juvenile police officer. Will the new officer have enough time to prevent violence against children?
At the roundtable, the authors of the ‘Sheriffs for New Communities’ project will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new way of organising safe environments in communities and its effect on children’s rights (protection from domestic violence, slavery, human trafficking and sexual violence).
