Just like children, who are always up to date about everything, the DOC/SADOC for the younger visitors of the Festival tirelessly changes its format every year. Read about its new location and program in the story by its coordinator Olena Shulha.
Last year, more than a hundred children participated in our workshops, games and conversations about important things. So we realized that we needed to look for a bigger space. Our new home for the period of the Festival will be the renovated Library of the Future (Children’s Public Library on 25 Mezhyhirska Str.). It’s a new inclusive space right next to the Zhovten Cinema.
This time, together with the Ridni Animation studio, we are going to create a few cartoons with children aged 6 to 10. We will do a quest around the library and learn how to test information in the virtual world rather than just trust it. We will analyze what kind of passwords are secure, learn more about advertising. And, of course, we will create our own advertising poster for the library! We will also get a visit from an actual cyber police officer, who will tell us… Oh, no, spoiling is not in our rules.
For six days, teenagers (10-14) will be making #MyFilmAbout together with coaches from the Mediana Center for Media Literacy. In conversations with city residents and experts, they will try to figure out how well we can test information and how often we get caught with a bait of fake news. In addition, teenagers will meet software developers, journalists and “white” hackers in the Living Library format.
And the entertainment for our smallest and most active 3-to-6-year-old visitors will be taken care of by teachers from the Mudrahelyk Children’s Center. The kids will also have an opportunity to draw, make collages, play board games, and listen to folk songs by the Pravytsia folk studio.
The full workshop schedule will soon be published in the DOC/SADOC category at our website and on social media.
See you at the Festival!
