The regulations of digital communication exist between two extremes. On the one hand, there is the utopian desire to turn the internet into an absolutely anarchic world where any opinion can be expressed without worrying about government control. On the other hand, there are those who advocate for a fully regulated internet. Ukraine has some legal practices related to the protection of the dignity and honour of individuals, as well as the business reputation of individuals and legal entities. In addition, there is legal practice on copyright.
In his lecture, Oleh Soldatov, a PhD candidate at the Bocconi University, will give an exclusive speech about the European Court of Human Rights’ practice. The expert researches the question of regulating the internet through the lens of the new precedent practice of the European Court of Human Rights related to freedom of expression, respect for private life, and protection of property rights. Audience members, especially human rights advocates and court workers, will be able to apply these recommendations in practice.
