CIVIL PITCH: Prominent Film Industry Experts will Meet Competition Participants

Directors of European TV channels and the most famous human rights festivals of Europe, producers with Oscar nominations and experts in creative documentary cinema. Meet the first ten prominent professionals of the European film industry who will meet all the participants of the CIVIL PITCH: Civil Activism Films.

 

At the final stage of the competition, the expert team will also include representatives of the IDFA Bertha Fund, Ex Oriente Film. They will consult each of the projects and help to develop and promote creative documentary films.

 

 

The producer Anne Köhncke is a co-founder of a two-time Oscar-nominated company FINAL CUT FOR REAL. Their production portfolio includes such films as The Look of Silence and The Act of Killing by Joshua Oppenheimer, Cathedrals of Culture by famous directors Wim Wenders, Michael Glawogger, Robert Redford and others.

 

Clothilde Redfern, the Director of One World Media, is responsible for the production fund of her company, which supports unprejudiced media in developing countries. She has several years of work experience in Documentaries departments of such channels as Film4 and the British Community Channel.

 

Diana Karklin is the director of sales and acquisitions at the RISE AND SHINE WORLD SALES, one of the leading international sales agents for documentary films.

 

Patricia Drati is a creative producer and film development consultant, working with both documentary and fiction. She is a consultant for the Torino Film Lab and the new initiative of Filmworkshop/Copenhagen called From a Different World.

 

 

The expert team also includes Kenan Aliyev, the Executive Editor of the independent international media Current Time, and its acquisition & commissioning manager Sergei Trofimov. Current Time is a special project of Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty in cooperation with the Voice of America, which regularly airs creative documentaries.

 

Jasmin Basic is a film historian and programmer for such famous film forums as Visions du Réel Nyon, Animafest Zagreb and International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights Geneva.

 

Maciej Nowicki, the co-founder and Director of the WATCH DOCS, one of the largest human rights film festivals in Europe, will also join the expert team. He served on several juries and participated in various panel debates on human rights and documentary films. He is also the author of the concept behind FUTURE DOCS, a European platform for creative encounters of human rights defenders and documentary filmmakers.

 

Another expert for the CIVIL PITCH will be Artchil Khetagouri, the Festival Director of CinéDOC-Tbilisi. Atchil’s documentaries received many awards from such film forums as Rotterdam Film Festival and Visions du Réel Nyon. Since 2011 he works for the Noosfera Foundation, initiating and working as the project manager for such projects as the documentary training initiative DocStories Black Sea.

 

Documentary filmmakers and civil society activists are invited to participate in this project, which is unique for Ukraine. By joining their efforts, they will be able to create films which will catalyze deep changes in the society. See the application conditions in more detail at this link.
