A Story of Struggle for the City. Docudays UA at the Archikidz! Educational Festival

22 May 2018

Docudays UA continues to join public discussions about the development and transformation of urban space. At this year’s Archikidz! Festival, we are going to screen one of the best films of the Docudays UA special program CITY IMAGE.

Audience Emancipated: The Struggle for the Emek Movie Theater by the Emek Bizim İstanbul Bizim activist collective is a story of Istanbul protests. It is not just about a struggle for an iconic place which is important for the locals. The protests were political in a wider sense because they tackled the question, Whom does urban space belong to?

The film will be screened on June 2 and 3 as a part of the Archikidz! Educational Festival. Archikidz! is an international movement which integrates the experience of the leading architects, designers, urban planners and artists from all continents, in order to develop a new educational platform. The festival, created in 2011 in Amsterdam, has about 50 residents by now; Kyiv also joined its list last year.

The film screening will take place on June 2 at 3:30 p.m. and on June 3 at 4 p.m. in the innovative park Unit.City (1 Dorohozhytska str.). Entry to the screening is free.
