Radio Liberty Ukraine (the Crimea. Realities project) will organise the screening of a series of short documentaries which reflect the conditions of life in occupied Crimea. Crimea. Unconquered, Crimea. Winners Cannot Be Judged, Mykola Semena. Forbidden Thoughts, Adamant Balukh. The Sentence, Forbidden Love: Life of the LGBT Community in Crimea are films prepared by the journalists of Radio Liberty Ukraine’s Crimea. Realities project using unique footage. This footage was filmed in places to which Ukrainian media and documentary filmmakers have no access. Historical video recordings of the protests which shook the peninsula in February 2014, evidence of searches, arrests, intimidation of protesters. Stories of persecution of the Crimean Tatar activist Akhtem Chygoyz, the political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh, the journalist Mykola Semena; repressions of LGBT community members — the project’s authors have collected impressive documentary evidence about the lives of those who have dared to publicly express their protest against the occupation government.
