In 1997 Ukraine ratified the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (the European Convention). By becoming a party to this international agreement, Ukraine has not only committed itself to ensure respect for human rights, but has agreed to the compulsory jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights. This panel is devoted to questions highlighting the experience of appealing to the European Court of Human Rights in order to protect environmental rights.
