For a year, Docudays UA and its partners from the British Council in Ukraine, Sheffield Doc/Fest, the International Red Cross Cross Committee Delegation in Ukraine, and the French Embassy in Ukraine, has held a series of competitions and workshops for young documentary directors and producers. The three very different programs essentially had the same goal, shared by most projects accompanying Docudays UA: the goal of developing and supporting Ukrainian documentary cinema.
We believe that it is very important to support young directors, upcoming author-driven projects and projects on socially important topics, as well as to promote cooperation between documentary filmmakers from Ukraine and other countries. This is the foundation for the successful development of the film industry.
The final event of our three projects, DocWorks: UA/UK, Warscape and Youth about Ukraine, will be an open pitch where everyone interested will be able to see the results of the filmmakers’ work. The audience and the jury will have a chance to evaluate 15 projects from Ukraine, the UK and Georgia.
The best projects will receive monetary prizes. The winners will be announced at the festival’s closing ceremony on 30 March.
