A team of dedicated documentary makers from France share their experience of the full circle of documentary activism: from producing challenging documentaries to bringing them to educational suburban screenings, as well as programming for renowned film festivals.
Since 2005, la fabrique documentaire has travelled around the world, mainly in Africa, to produce high-quality audio documentaries for French, Belgian and Swiss national radio stations. We have made documentary works for institutional clients such as l’Institut français, TV5MONDE and Médecins sans frontières, including programming advice for international documentary festivals such as Visions du Réel in Nyon (Switzerland). Three years ago we decided to share the knowledge we have accumulated throughout the years with our fellow citizens, by developing a policy of popular education through documentary in the territory we are settled in: North-Eastern Paris and its suburbs. We then created two documentary festivals in public spaces: Ciné-Jardins (‘Garden Movies’), a documentary festival on ecology in community gardens (the 3rd edition is coming in 2017), and Ciné-Voisins (‘Neighbour Movies’), a documentary festival on the cultural diversity to be found at the foot of public housing buildings (1st edition coming in 2017).
