The 19-minute documentary Surviving Hell tells the stories of people who were captured by separatists in the Donbas. This film was made in 2015 by Oleksiy Bida and Anna Perepelitsa, and it complements a report by the Human Rights Coalition Justice for Peace in Donbas. The report is based on the testimonies of 165 people who were victims or witnesses of violence. Excerpts of some of these interviews were included into the film. The film has almost no voice-over, and the survivors speak for themselves. They speak about the kinds of tortures invented by the staff of those false prisons, about beatings, intimidation and humiliation, about being forced to recite a text on camera for Russian television. After the screening, there will be a discussion with the film’s author, the representatives of the Justice for Peace in Donbas coalition, and invited guests.
