It is said that one can define a country through its politicians, but one can also define it through its aphorisms. Described as ‘sharp proverbs with a twist’, satirical aphorisms are the best antidote to life Serbia has to offer. They appear everywhere – in booklets, newspapers, slang, graffiti, street protests, screenplay lines. Their authors: ordinary people with an exceptional talent for observation and wordplay. Their consumers: an otherwise dejected general public. Their goal: demystifying commentary, empowering subversion, intellectual consolation. Using creative narration and satirical documentary footage, Goodbye, How Are You?introduces the viewers to the uplifting world of Serbian satirical aphorisms, and rediscovers the importance of images through the power of words and vice versa.
