Kafkaesque story based on real facts. The film unfolds the life of a simple country woman Antonina, who works as a combine operator in the post-war Chuvash village. She finds out her own way to overcome a hopeless situation in which she was involved. For her persistent hard-work Antonina (Tosya) was honored to handle Red Banner velvet flag, which she should have protected. But impoverished woman's house is filled with mice, which made a hole in the flag's cloth. So, Tosya makes up her mind to win in socialist competition once more by any cost in order to conceal the fact of Red Banner's damage.
